Ohio Wagyu is a Full Blood Wagyu breeding operation located at Navarre, Ohio. Our primary focus is to raise cattle that are capable of producing steaks that are equal to the famous Kobe Steak. These docile and gentle animals are a joy to work with. These cattle are the direct descendent of cattle imported to the United States from Japan in the 1990s.
There are many myths and stories associated with raising this breed, massaging and beer drinking among the most famous. I do not know if there is any truth to them but this breed's ability to marble is unquestionable. Less than 2 percent of all U.S. beef qualify to be USDA Prime, but Wagyu due to its genetic disposition routinely exceed prime. I do feel that we owe our gratitude to the Japanese farmers who painstakingly selected great marbling ability when breeding their animals for the last 200 years. No wonder it is considered their National Treasure.
Our farm sits on the Tuscarawas River alongside the historical Erie Canal towpath. Lush green summers and snowy winters are the norm here. Only locally grown corn, grains and hay are used in our production. We believe in the sensible use of medicine and do not use any growth hormones in our beef production.
